- How accurate is the position information?
The positioning accuracy depends on the smartphone device and the acquisition mode being used. Typical smartphone GPS accuracy is usually above 2-3 meters under good signal conditions..
- Does the GPS Waypoints Lite app support external GNSS receivers?
Yes. The app supports external iOS-compatible GNSS/GPS receivers to improve positioning accuracy beyond the built-in iPhone GNSS. These receivers typically connect via Bluetooth (BLE) and provide GNSS data directly to the app. iOS-compatible external devices are generally those that:
- Support Bluetooth connectivity with iOS;
- Are designed for use with iOS mapping or GNSS applications;
- Provide GNSS position data in a format supported by the app
Some examples of iOS-compatible receivers include Garmin GLO 2, GNS 3000, Bad Elf GNSS receivers, and Trimble Catalyst DA2.
- Which file formats are supported for data import and export?
The application supports importing and exporting geospatial data in KML, CSV, GeoJson (Premium) and GPX (Premium) formats.
- Is iOS GPS Lite interoperable with Android GPS Waypoints?
These are two independent applications, but you can exchange data between them using the import/export features with GeoJSON, GPX, and KML formats. You can also use the Share Geodata Viewer option to occasionally exchange data between multiple devices.
- Can I use the application without an internet connection?
Yes. GPS Waypoints Lite can collect and store points and paths offline using the device GPS. However, internet access may be required for map visualization, sharing data, and requesting EO satellite imagery.
